Damascus, SANA-Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani welcomed the first resolution of the Human Rights Council following the fall of the regime.
The resolution welcomed the fall of the Assad regime and focused on its crimes, it also welcomed the formation of the new government, and addressed economic sanctions and Israeli violations.
Minister al-Shaibani added (tweets via X): “The resolution reflects our local and international efforts to protect human rights despite the challenges, difficulties, and legacy of the former regime.”.
The Foreign Minister praised the efforts of countries, civil society organizations, and victims’ and survivors’ associations who have worked tirelessly over the past years to keep the rights of Syrians a priority in all forums.
Minister al-Shaibani expressed particular appreciation for the role of the Core Group and the State penholder Britain, noting his pride in Syria’s positive and constructive participation in drafting the resolution for the first time.
On the anniversary of the Assad regime’s chemical weapons attack on Khan Sheikhoun in Idleb, which killed dozens, Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani pledged to continue working to achieve justice and hold accountable those responsible for this heinous crime.
Minister al-Shaibani affirmed that the new Syria will be a safe homeland for all Syrians under the foundations of freedom, dignity, and justice.
