ACSAD and GIZ discuss ways to support the agricultural sector in Syria

Damascus, SANA- Director-General of the Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Dry Lands (ACSAD) , Dr. Nasr Edin Obaid, discussed with a delegation from the German Agency for International Development Cooperation (GIZ) mechanisms for enhancing joint cooperation between the two sides, ways to support the rehabilitation of the agricultural sector infrastructure in Syria, and improving food security in the region.

Dr. Obaid stressed ACSAD’s full readiness to intensify joint efforts in the next phase, in a way that contributes to rehabilitating the Syrian agricultural sector in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, supporting farmers in areas most affected by crises, and achieving sustainable development goals.

The delegation was chaired by Ms. Sabine Wenz, the Director of Agency’s Agriculture Program, who referred to the role of ACSAD in developing sustainable agriculture in the Arab region.

She thanked the organization for its fruitful cooperation with the German Agency, and affirming GIZ’s commitment to supporting the partnership with ACSAD to implement sustainable development programs that contribute to improving the living conditions of the population, ensuring food security, and improving the management of natural resources in the Arab region.
