Riyadh, SANA- The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) has reactivated Syria’s membership in the Bank Group at the request of the Syrian government, paving the way for a new phase of Islamic development cooperation and support for Syria’s reconstruction efforts.
During its meeting on Sunday, the Bank’s Board of Executive Directors stated on its official website that “reactivating Syria’s membership in the Bank Group is a significant step that will enable the group to support recovery and reconstruction efforts and contribute to enhancing the country’s social and economic development there.”
The IsDB Group emphasized its strong commitment to supporting Syria and promoting sustainable growth.
Syria also retrieved its membership in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation on March 8, after a thirteen-year hiatus. It had joined the Islamic Development Bank in September 1975.
