Damascus, SANA- The Director of Daraa Telecom’s Branch, Eng. Ahmad al-Hariri, explained that the interruption of the optical cable linking Daraa and Damascus governorates resulted in the cessation of telecommunications and internet services in the governorates of Daraa and Sweida.
Al-Hariri stated in a press release to SANA that this incident is a result of repeated attacks on the telecommunications infrastructure, which led to the cutting of the vital optical cable connecting the two governorates to the main telecommunications centers.
Al-Hariri confirmed that maintenance teams from the Syrian Telecom Establishment (STE) are working around the clock to repair the faults as quickly as possible, noting that the resumption of service depends on the availability of the necessary materials to complete the repair process fully.
He added that these incidents harm citizens and affect the continuity of essential services, calling for the protection of telecommunications infrastructure to ensure the continuous and effective provision of telecommunications and internet services.
