Syriatel and MTN launch pilot 5G network trial in Syria

Damascus, SANA- Syriatel and MTN, in collaboration with the Ministry of Communications and Technology, have launched the first pilot trial of the fifth-generation (5G) network in Syria.

This initiative aligns with ongoing efforts to develop the telecommunications sector, keep pace with the latest technologies, and implement a joint plan aimed at enhancing telecom infrastructure and providing high-speed internet services to citizens.

In a joint statement, the two companies affirmed that this strategic step underscores their commitment to delivering advanced telecommunications services and accelerating the digital transformation process in the country—contributing to the growth of the digital economy and improving service quality for all segments of society.

According to the statement, the pilot project will initially cover selected areas, with a gradual expansion based on performance evaluations and local market needs.

The statement also highlighted that 5G technology offers ultra-fast internet speeds, enabling users to benefit from advanced applications across business, education, healthcare, and entertainment sectors. It also enhances network capacity to accommodate high usage density and provide a better user experience.

Syriatel and MTN affirm their continued investment in infrastructure development and their commitment to empowering Syrian society with access to cutting-edge technological services, in line with citizens’ aspirations and the growing market demands.
