Damascus, SANA- Minister of Economy and Industry, Mohammad Nidal al-Shaar, discussed with the Regional Director of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), affiliated with the World Bank Group, Khawaja Aftab Ahmed, areas and prospects for cooperation, and ways to enhance technical and financial support for economic sectors.
During the meeting, they discussed providing financing to sectors working in the fields of sustainable development and private investment, creating the business environment in Syria, rehabilitating infrastructure in the industrial sector, and providing consultations in various economic and development sectors.
Minister Al-Shaar stressed the importance of activating partnerships with international financial institutions during the economic recovery phase, pointing to the need to expand support programs for small and medium-sized enterprises and enhance private-sector initiatives to create job opportunities and achieve sustainable growth.
For his part, Aftab Ahmed expressed the International Finance Corporation’s readiness to contribute to supporting the Syrian economy, stressing the corporation’s commitment to supporting Syria in boosting its economy and recover from the effects of the war.
