Damascus, SANA- Culture Minister, Mohammed Yassin Saleh, held met Monday Chairman of Planning and International Cooperation Commission, Musab Badawi, and the accompanying delegation at the ministry building in Damascus Governorate.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to promote cultural work and joint planning to meet the current stage requirements.
The meeting touched on the importance of developing clear cultural strategies focused on addressing the bad impacts that affected Syria’s cultural identity due to the former regime practices, underlining the need to restore cultural and social balance through a comprehensive national vision.
For his part, minister Saleh noted to the role of drama and media as effective tools in correcting decades-old misconceptions, and the need to convey the true image of the Syrian personality away from stereotypes that distorted features of the national identity.
The meeting also addressed several executive proposals, such holding national events, activating archaeological sites as centers for dialogue and cultural exchange, and integrating culture into education system, in addition to discussing other proposals.
In the post-revolutionary phase, Culture Ministry affirms commitment to developing the cultural infrastructure and enhancing cooperation with official and civil society organizations to restore Syria’s leading role on the level of Arab and international culture.
