Doha, SANA-The International Union of Muslim Scholars condemned Israeli attacks on Syria, targeting of its territories, and attempts to incite sectarian strife there, calling on Arab and Islamic countries to stand by Syria.
The union said in a statement posted on its website: “It is following with deep concern and condemnation the intensive Israeli airstrikes on Syrian territory targeting various areas of the country, in a blatant attack on the sovereignty of an Arab and Islamic state and the security and stability of its people.”
The Union affirmed that “the Israeli enemy has not and will not spare any effort to thwart any efforts toward stability in Syria. Rather, it seeks, with all its tools, to undermine any emerging power there and push toward its division by igniting strife, in a scene that reflects its expansionist ambitions and its old-new aggressive approach.”
It also held this entity fully responsible for the consequences of this escalation and warned of the danger of international and regional silence, which encourages it to persist in its attacks.
The Union called on Arab and Islamic countries to take a serious and responsible stand with Syria in the face of this blatant aggression and to work to support its stability, territorial integrity, and sovereignty.
It also called on international and regional organizations to shoulder their responsibilities by condemning this aggression and adopting clear positions that deter the occupation from continuing its violations.
The International Union of Muslim Scholars stressed its full support for the honorable Syrian people, their army, and their national leadership, asking God to protect Syria and its people from all harm and strife.
