Damascus-SANA- Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Marwan Halabi, has met with the Head of the American Board in Syria, Dr. Dima Barakat, and her accompanying delegation to discuss joint cooperation in developing higher education, improving its outcomes, and completing a cooperation agreement between the two parties.
During the meeting, held Monday at the Ministry building, Minister Halabi noted that there is collaboration with several American universities and emphasized the importance of expanding joint cooperation to establish further partnerships with these institutions, in light of Syria’s upcoming period of openness.
Minister Halabi highlighted the significance of collaboration with the American Board, particularly for both public and private universities, stressing the need to move toward investment in higher education.
For her part, Dr. Barakat explained that the Board is internationally recognized for medical, healthcare, and other specialties, as it provides expertise and privileges to enhance the higher education sector in Syria, improve educational outcomes, and develop standards aligned with those in America and globally.
Dr. Barakat also mentioned that registration with the American Board is now accessible from Syria, alongside opportunities for student scholarships and fellowships, as well as the development of universities and higher education curricula.
