New York, SANA- Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Mr. Asaad al-Shaibani, met on Monday China’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Fu Cong, at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City.
During the meeting, Minister Al-Shaibani stressed Syria’s firm stance to boost relations with China, noting that Syria will be a partner and supporter of China in various international issues.
The Minister also indicated that Syria and China will work together to build a long-term strategic partnership in the near future, adding that this partnership will be pivotal in enhancing economic, political, and cultural cooperation between the two countries.
“Syria appreciates China’s stance in support of Syria’s rights and in resolving the Syrian crisis through political dialogue and international cooperation,” al-Shaibani said.
For his part, Ambassador Cong expressed China’s unwavering support for the will of the Syrian people to choose their political future, noting that China continues to support Syria’s unity and respect for its national sovereignty.
He emphasized that China will continue to support the Syrian government’s efforts to maintain the country’s stability, as the two countries share historical ties that contribute to strengthening bilateral cooperation in various fields.
Both sides underlined the importance of enhancing cooperation and joint action to ensure regional security and stability.
In this context, the two sides expressed their desire to enhance joint coordination to address global and regional challenges while ensuring respect for the sovereignty of states and non-interference in their internal affairs.
