Syrian-Turkish Talks on health cooperation, potential operation of hospitals in Damascus and Aleppo

Damascus-SANA Minister of Health, Dr. Musab al-Ali, has discussed with a delegation from the Turkish Ministry of Health, led by the Head of the Ministry’s External Affairs Department, Dr. Mustafa Taskin, ways to enhance cooperation in the fields of healthcare and medicine.

During the meeting held at the Ministry on Monday, the two sides deliberated on the possibility of signing a protocol to operate two hospitals—one in Damascus specializing in cardiology and cardiac surgery, and another in Aleppo dedicated to oncology—by providing them with the necessary resources and medical staff.

The Turkish delegation stated that the Turkish Ministry of Health is committed to operating the two hospitals with a capacity of 150 beds each, improving the facilities to deliver top-quality medical services to the Syrian people.

For his part, Minister al-Ali affirmed the Ministry’s readiness to open doors for any collaborative efforts that serve patient interests and uplift the healthcare sector. He highlighted that the deposed regime left behind a devastated and corrupt healthcare system.
