Damascus, SANA- President of Syrian Arab Republic, Mr. Ahmad al-Sharaa, performed Eid al-Fitr prayer at People’s Palace prayer hall in Damascus, with a large public presence.
The President performed the prayer along with Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani, Defense Minister, Murhaf Abu Qasra, Justice Minister, Mazhar al-Wais, Grand Mufti Sheikh Osama al-Rifae, a number of state officials and prominent figures from the Syrian community, all under the patronage of Endowments Minister, Sheikh Muhammad Abu al-Khair Shukri.
In a speech on occasion of Eid al-Fitr, President al-Sharaa said “It is one of God’s blessings upon us, after 14 -year-patience, that we all here, representing all the Syrian people, in People’s Palace, and we exchange greetings and congratulations on this Eid.”
President Sharaa added: “God Almighty has granted us what we have desired for years, as the Syrian people have suffered and sacrificed greatly to reach this moment.
“Syria is today writing a new history and we are all working to rebuild this country after the destruction left behind by defunct regime, and we are in front of a long and hard road, we possess all the necessary factors for construction at all levels, and what is required of us is to work together and not to disagree.”, President al-Sharaa said.
President al-Sharaa stressed that we only lack the will and determination, and to work within strategic plans and what we have passed through and overcome is the most difficult, and what remains before us is easier.
He added “I ask God Almighty that we meet on the next Eid at this time, and all of Syria’s problems will have been solved.”
President al-Sharaa went on saying “We announced the Syrian government two days ago, moving away from “quotas towards partnership,” this government has required a lot of work until these experienced and competent ministers were chosen, whose goal is to build this country, and our goal is change and improvement.
The President affirmed that the members of the new government were chosen without any particular ideological or political leanings, as their only concern is building this country, and we will provide them with all the capabilities to ensure their success.
President al-Sharaa asserted that we certainly will not be able to satisfy everyone, and this is the natural state, but we must agree as much as possible, and thank God we have seen positive reactions to the establishment of this government.
President al-Sharaa underscored that Syria is not a field for desires and fulfillment of dreams, but rather a field for serious and hard work, and the only dream that will be achieved is the elevation of people and the country so that it returns free, proud and influential in the whole world.
