Directorate General of Antiquities and German Archaeological Institute discuss joint cooperation

Damascus, SANA- Director-General of Antiquities and Museums, Dr. Anas Haj Zidane, discussed with Dr. Claudia Burig, the Director of the German Archaeological Institute in Damascus, ways to upgrade cooperation to support the Syrian cultural heritage and increase opportunities for cultural partnerships.

On its Facebook page, Directorate General of Antiquities and Museums stated Wednesday that the two sides discussed ways to strengthen the partnership between the two countries, and the available opportunities to develop cooperation in the areas of training cadres and securing supplies to protect, document and restore museums and archaeological sites, in addition to scope of cooperation in research and postgraduate studies.

The meeting, which included members of the German delegation and experts from the Directorate-General of Antiquities and Museums, concluded with an overview of the current situation of the halls and warehouses of the National Museum in Damascus.
