Italy approves emergency aid package for Syria worth 4.5 million Euros

Rome, SANA- Italy has approved an urgent humanitarian aid package for Syria worth 4.5 million euros as part of the humanitarian efforts directed towards Syria.

“As part of the humanitarian aid announced by Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani during his visit to Damascus on January 10, 4.5 million euros have been allocated for emergency relief initiatives,” the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement published on its website.

The Ministry explained that “this aid will be directed towards the most urgent and priority areas in Syria, with the aim of supporting humanitarian activities in the health sector and hospitals, improving vital infrastructure, including health infrastructure, water, and food supply chains, and supporting the most vulnerable groups among the population.”

The Ministry noted that “this initiative follows an initial humanitarian shipment of medicines and medical supplies that departed from the UN Humanitarian Response Depot (UNHRD) in Brindisi, Italy, at the end of January, which included medicines and medical supplies and is currently being distributed.”
