During a press conference with his Georgian counterpart in Ankara Wednesday, Fidan said: “This conference will continue to determine and guide Syria’s future and establish the concept of the state in Syria to enhance the welfare of the Syrian people. We will support the current government in the new phase and peace phase.”

Fidan stressed that Syria’s future is in the hands of its people and that Turkey views the conference which was concluded on Tuesday as an important step in this regard. He expressed hope that it would bring good to the Syrian people and state.

Regarding the recent Israeli statements, Fidan said: “What most hinders us in establishing peace in this region is ‘Israel’ and Netanyahu and his recent statements about Syria. We emphasize to Netanyahu’s government the necessity of ending these policies that aim to drag the region into chaos and instability.”
