Tourism Minister calls for boosting participation of expatriates in dealing with damage caused by terrorism

Damascus, SANA – Caretaker Tourism Minister Bishr Yazigi underlined the need to boost the role of expatriates in dealing with damage caused by terrorism through activities that promote tourism in Syria and sheds light on the dark mentality embraced by terrorists.

Meeting deputy chairman of Friends of Maaloula Society in Madrid Elias Nasrallah and the accompanying delegation on Wednesday, Yazigi called for establishing a fund for expatriates who wish to help in the reconstruction process, supporting martyrs’ families, and preserve Syria’s archeological sites from vandalism.

He said that terrorists resorted to vandalize Syria’s culture and heritage in service of foreign plots, and that the government is committed to repairing what terrorists destroy and helping anyone who wants to take part in this process, calling on expatriates to help renovate the town of Maaloula in particular.

Yazigi lauded the efforts exerted by the Society in documenting the damage caused to Maaloula and its heritage sites.

In turn, Nasrallah reviewed the Society’s activities abroad, affirming its readiness to participate in the reconstruction process.
