Ramadan starts in Syria on Thursday

Damascus, SANA – First religious judge in Damascus Mahmoud al-Ma’rawi said that Thursday is the first day of the holy month of Ramadan.

In a statement on Tuesday, al-Ma’rawi said the month of Sha’aban this year is 30 days and therefore the first day of Ramadan will be on Thursday 18th of June.

In Ramadan, Muslims fast from dawn to sunset.
