Syria, UNRWA discuss ways of boosting cooperation in education field

Damascus, SANA- Syria and UNRWA discussed Thursday the education situation in Syria and means of enhancing cooperation between ministry and organization.

That came during a meeting that brought together Education Minister Dr. Mohammed Turko and Director of UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in Syria, Amanya Michael Ebye, and the accompanying delegation.

During the meeting held at the Ministry building in Damascus, the two sides touched on the organization’s future projects at the education sector, in addition to the mechanism of restoring damaged schools.

Dr. Turko stressed that economic sanctions imposed on Syria hinder efforts of reconstruction process in various fields, including education

In turn, the delegation expressed readiness to provide support to the Ministry in terms training and qualification of teaching cadres.

The delegation also noted to the organization’s work mechanism at education sector, challenges facing it, and the mechanism of developing its work, in a way that would improve the services provided.
