Pristina, SANA- President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, described her meeting with President of the Syrian Arab Republic, Mr. Ahmad al-Sharaa, last Friday as “wonderful,” and called for closer ties between her country and Syria.
In an interview with the Kosovan channel “RTV21,” published Tuesday, Osmani said: “The meeting with President al-Sharaa was wonderful.” She emphasized that her country had never sought to establish diplomatic relations with the ousted regime, adding, “Now, we hope to strengthen our relations with the institutions of free Syria.”
Osmani spoke about the violations suffered by Syrians over the past years, stating: “The Syrian people have endured a very long period of suffering, facing genocide and horrific war crimes, including the use of chemical weapons against children by the Assad regime.”
President al-Sharaa met with the President of Kosovo last Friday on the sidelines of the fourth edition of the Antalya Diplomatic Forum in southern Turkey, in the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Asaad al-Shaibani.
During the meeting, Osmani expressed her country’s readiness to open new chapters of cooperation with Syria, noting that both nations share similar wounds, the pain of war, and the challenges of reconstruction.
