Amman, SANA-Jordan condemned in the strongest terms the recent Israeli aggression on various areas in Syria, calling on the international community to compel Israel to halt its illegal attacks on Syria and end its occupation of part of its territory.
Jordanian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ambassador Dr. Sufyan Qudah said in a statement today, quoted by Petra News Agency, that these attacks constitute a flagrant violation of international law and a blatant infringement of Syria’s sovereignty and unity and constitute a serious escalation that will only contribute to further conflict and tension in the region.
Qudah affirmed the Kingdom’s absolute rejection and strong condemnation of the ongoing Israeli attacks on Syrian territory, in clear violation of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement between Israel and Syria, and he reiterated the Kingdom’s full support and solidarity with brotherly Syria and its security, stability and sovereignty.
The Ambassador called on the international community to assume its legal and moral responsibilities, commit Israel to halt its provocative and illegitimate attacks on Syria and end the occupation of part of its territory, stressing the need for Israel to abide by the norms of international law and relevant resolutions of international legitimacy that impose respect for the sovereignty of states and non-interference in their affairs.
