Damascus, SANA- Teams of school buildings under the Ministry of Education have conducted a comprehensive assessment of the needs of 797 schools in several governorates. They managed to carry out extensive technical surveys in cooperation with international and local organizations.
In a statement to SANA, Director of School Buildings at the Ministry, Eng. Mohammad Hanoun, clarified that the assessment revealed an urgent need for interventions to restore and rehabilitate these schools.
He pointed out that the education directorates in several governorates are making strenuous efforts in cooperation with international and local organizations to rehabilitate and restore the damaged schools.
Currently, 11 schools in Tartous, 3 in Lattakia, 2 in Daraa, 5 in Damascus, 9 in Damascus countryside, 15 in Aleppo, 4 in Homs, and 186 schools in Idlib are being restored, according to Hanoun.
Hanoun emphasized the Ministry’s efforts to improve the educational environment and enhance the quality of the educational process, which contributes to ensuring the continuity of the educational process.
He considered these efforts an important step toward rebuilding the educational sector in Syria and providing the best conditions for students to complete their education in a safe and suitable environment.
