ICAN: U.S. rejuvenates its nuclear arsenal in 5 European states

Vienna, SANA- International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN) revealed that the United States of America is renewing its nuclear arsenal that stationed in five European countries by replacing old nuclear warheads with new generation ones.

Alistair Burnett – Head of Media department – “ICAN” organization, told Sputnik agency that this operation is underway, as the US Air Force aircraft designed to transport these weapons can be directly tracked, noting that Washington does not speak publicly about this operation, but the process of renewing the nuclear arsenal is ongoing.

Last October, the organization revealed evidence that the United States was planning to deploy nuclear weapons in Britain, that made it being added to the approximately 100 units are already existed in five other “NATO” countries.

ICAN noted that the US deploys about 150 nuclear bombs at its bases in Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium and Turkey.

Earlier, the organization confirmed that the “NATO” countries violate the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) if they deploy nuclear weapons in Poland, and last February it called on the United States to withdraw its nuclear weapons from Europe, stressing that the cross-border exchange of nuclear weapons increases the risk of escalation.

ICAN was founded in 2007 with the aim of promote the implementation of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW), where the organization was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2017.
