Salkhad khans in Sweida… archaeological monuments dating back to the Ayyubid period

Sweida, SANA- Salkhad city’s khans, located in Sweida southern countryside, are one of the important archaeological monuments dating back to the Ayyubid period.

Head of Sweida Antiquities’ Department, Nasha’at Kiwan, told SANA reporter that the khans have represented commercial centers to attract merchants and owners of capitals and provide them with accommodation and safety, in addition, the khans were centers for exchanging opinions and news.

Kiwan added that the construction of ancient Khans of Salkhad witnessed prosperity at the Ayyobid era when the economic movement has largely increased.
