Abu Dhabi, SANA-Syria’s national football team beat Maldives counterpart 2-1 in a match held on Thursday in the UAE within the 2^nd round of the qualifications for World Cup of 2022 and Asia 2023 of group A.

With this win, Syria raised its points to 6 in the second place after China.

Philippines comes in the third place, Maldives in the fourth place with 3 points each, and Guam in the bottom with no points.

Syrian player Omar al-Soumah scored for Syria at the 26^th and 60^th minutes of the game.
