Syria, UNDP to enhance environment cooperation

Damascus, SANA – Minister of Local Administration and Environment Hussein Makhlouf discussed Thursday with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Country Director in Syria David Akopyan, the possibility of expanding cooperation between the Syrian government and the program including more areas.

Makhlouf called for expanding the fields of joint work, upgrading cooperation, reactivating the production process, providing livelihood resources and services, rehabilitating the infrastructure, securing the necessary funding, and implementing many sustainable programs in the liberated areas.

Akopyan, for his part, asserted the importance of focusing on specific projects according to the needs of each province and boosting cooperation to include the environment sector, adding he will tour the Syrian provinces to evaluate the work of the program, starting from Homs and Aleppo.
