On World Press Freedom Day, Information Ministry continues to implement legislative and institutional reforms to establish free media environment

Damascus, SANA-The Ministry of Information reiterated its commitment to the path of media openness, which enshrines freedom of expression as a fundamental pillar of the national project. The press is an effective partner in consolidating stability and strengthening the process of building a state of citizenship and the rule of law.

In line with this approach, the Ministry continues to implement legislative and institutional reforms aimed at establishing a free and safe media environment that promotes professionalism, preserves civil peace, and embraces pluralism as a source of strength and wealth for society.

In a statement marking World Press Freedom Day, the Ministry affirmed that press freedom is inseparable from responsibility, it is based on professional awareness that ensures balanced discourse that rejects incitement and protects the national fabric from threats and disintegration.

The Ministry called for the consolidation of a culture of responsible media work based on accuracy, objectivity, and commitment to the supreme national interest.

In concluding its statement, the Ministry paid tribute to the Syrian journalists who carried out their mission with courage and dedication.

It affirmed that their professional loyalty will remain a constant incentive to establish a free national media that reflects the conscience of society, keeps pace with its aspirations, and contributes to building public trust, considering the media as one of the fundamental pillars of national progress.
