Deir Ezzor, SANA- Director of the Public Security Department in Deir Ezzor Governorate said that over the past years, the former regime has established many checkpoints spread throughout Deir Ezzor, in addition to completely closing some main roads, in an attempt to impose dominance by force, as these checkpoints have become a source of constant concern and repression for civilians.
The Director said in a statement to SANA repaorter “We will take a series of measures aimed at improving the security situation in the governorate, and removing the manifestations of threats to security and stability left behind by the former regime.”.
“We partially reopened some roads, and in the coming days we will move to the stage of opening them completely, to facilitate the safe movement of civilians and reduce the burdens resulting from moving between residential areas and neighborhoods.” He added.
The Director explained “We will also work on reestablishing and repositioning the checkpoints that were a source of spreading fear and tension, arbitrary arrests, torture, and other repressive measures that were practiced by the checkpoints of the defunct regime in cities and villages, to transform them into new checkpoints that contribute to ensuring the security and safety of our people in Deir Ezzor, and protecting their rights and properties.”.
He added that these steps come within our continuous efforts to provide a safe environment for all civilians, and to guarantee their basic rights, which contributes to reconstruction and stability in the governorate.
