Inauguration of the Surgery Department at the Children’s Hospital in Aleppo

Aleppo, SANA- The specialized pediatric surgery department at the Children’s Hospital in Aleppo officially commenced operations Monday following preparatory efforts spanning nearly three months. Supervised by the Aleppo Health Directorate, this initiative is part of a plan aimed at strengthening the healthcare system and providing comprehensive medical services to children in the governorate as well as the northern and eastern regions.

The newly established department houses three operating rooms equipped with state-of-the-art global technology, including imaging devices and computed tomography equipment. Additionally, accommodation facilities for medical and nursing staff are provided to ensure round-the-clock care.

In a statement to SANA’s reporter, Dr. Samer Arabi, the acting director of the Aleppo Health Directorate, described this achievement as a significant leap in pediatric medical services. He emphasized its role in alleviating pressure on other healthcare facilities and highlighted that the department is part of a broader strategy to improve the region’s healthcare infrastructure.

Dr. Moan Dabbah, General Director of the Children’s Hospital in Aleppo, explained that the hospital serves Aleppo and neighboring areas. It comprises 140 beds distributed across three floors, with a dedicated neonatal unit that accommodates over 45 incubators, in addition to ventilators, an intensive care unit for children, and wings designated for elderly and young patients up to the age of 12.

He noted that cooperation between the Ministry of Health and the Aleppo Health Directorate was pivotal in completing the project within the specified timeframe, stressing the importance of bolstering medical and nursing staff to keep pace with these expansions.

Dr. Dabbah also expressed hope that the hospital would become a primary destination for families, minimizing the need to seek specialized surgical care outside the governorate. On the opening day, six surgical procedures were performed, with the medical team affirming its commitment to high-quality service standards.
